Artist: Richard Delingpole

Richard Delingpole is a Worcester-born artist, illustrator and graphic designer. After a Foundation at Bournville School of Art and a Fine Art degree at Cheltenham Art College he completed an MA in Fine Art at the University of Ulster, Belfast.

After a year living in Bristol he moved to London. There he became a graphic designer, working in advertising and marketing.

These watercolours show soldiers and auxiliary figures throughout history, using friends from the re-enactment world as models.

Each painting shows, in great detail, both front and back of the individual, as so much of what makes a soldier’s battledress interesting is hanging from his back.

More recently he has re-invented the cigarette card for the 21st century, taking the front facing part of each painting and adding a description to the back of each card.

These have proved very popular as a collectible and ever-expanding series of inexpensive prints.
