Hopmarket Arts Next Sunday

The next Hopmarket Arts takes place from 10am to 5pm on Sunday 16th June, in the Courtyard of the Hopmarket off Foregate Street and Sansome Street, WR1

The family friendly event will also include a ‘Long Gallery’ showcasing a selection of artworks from Worcestershire and Gloucestershire based artists, these will include Richard Delingpole, Colin Clark, Bic Beaumont, Steve J Harvey and many others.

This month’s event will see the continuation of Participate in Art’s vision of joining the different silos of arts and culture together within this beautiful part of Worcester.

We will also be presenting an information and press centre for two amazing events happening over the August Bank Holiday. The first, is a unique collaboration between Participate In Art and the University of Worcester, taking place in the new Art House, presenting an interactive and hands on experience with ten of the regions finest artists. The second is a huge series of events, including music, poetry and art at the Royal Porcelain Works, again, over the whole of the August Bank Holiday. These are the not to be missed events of the year!

There will also be Artists themselves showing their work, willing and eager to answer questions and explain the creative process and inspiration behind their work. They will be Suzie Elizabeth Hunt – showing her work for the first time, Jadu Sheridan and mixed media artist fresh from the LitFest Illustration Exhibition and Sam Fenner a quirky animal painter (the work, not the artist!)

Participating Artists are:

Suzie Elizabeth Hunt

Mixed Media Artist Suzie Elizabeth Hunt creates a vast range of artworks, mainly prints; which explore the different angles of the everyday landscape, our relationships with them and how we respond to them. She crops and carefully selects aspects from documented shots allowing the viewer to see their environment in a refined format. Left mute, the caption or title takes on the role of the missing voice.

Jadu Sheridan

Acrylic, Ink and mixed media artist Jadu Sheridan is an artist who divides her time between painting landscapes inspired by her travels, and developing unique 3D works of art.  A self-taught student of art, she left a career in teaching to follow her passion for art; she uses acrylic paint and ink to create landscapes incorporating seas and trees. Her latest series of work explores sunlight on water; creating semi-abstract paintings. She also experiments with 3D arts such as needle felting and creating 3D sculptures from old unloved books; these works are inspired by both nature and her love of literature. Jadu works from her home in Worcester, when her rescue beagle allows, and is available for commissions.

Sam Fenner

Sam’s much sought after paintings don’t hang on gallery walls for long. She has an ever-growing reputation among artists and collectors for her distinctive animal portraits: a collection of eccentric animal portraits oozing with life and character, skilfully painted against a backdrop of vivid colour, and injected with the artist’s quirky sense of fun and humour.

One reason she engenders such loyalty among collectors is because she imbues her subjects with almost human characteristics – as well as being technically excellent paintings.

Sam continues to exhibit very successfully in and around the UK and sells to collectors worldwide.

Chris Oxlade-Arnott, Director of Participate in Art said: “We are thrilled to be hosting this event in The Hopmarket again bringing artist and buyers together. Our aim is to provide a platform for local artists and allowing them to showcase their work and skills”.
